I am getting a 68 Newport 2 door G engine code with the colum shift 3 speed. Any idea how many were built?

I think the "three-on-the-tree" was the "standard" transmission for the Newport. I have never seen one though! I would think the three speed manual would be quite rare. I own two '68 Newports and had a third in the early 1980's and all have 727 3 speed autos.

Yes,the 3 on da tree was the base tranny with the auto as an extra cost option.
It was not a popular seller
Most sales bank cars were automatics since the dealers would stock what would sell.
Newports were considered a classy car compared to other lower line Plymouth and Dodge offerings and the automatic was a very popular option.
Plus the Newport was popular with female customers who preferred the automatic

If a customer requested the row boat he would have had to order it.
When you get the car, search for the broadcast sheet.
On it it will tell you if it was an ordered car or sales bank car.
