Could something this nice really be had for $20,000? The ad seems legit and the pictures are in downtown Phoenix but the price makes me skeptical. What do you guys think?

They get marginally more respect than C-bodies so yes $20K will buy a nice one. Eldorados will bring down some big money.

I saw a restomod 56 a few years ago on Barrett Jackson. It was white with red leather with a 572 BBC crate and all the modern drivetrain and chassis tricks as well. It sold IIRC in the low $30K range. The interior was apparently $14K by itself.

Well bought as they say.

A quality #3 Coupe DeVille will start at about $18.5 and go up from there. The interior cloth does not appear to be quite stock. There was only one available engine on the DeVille, a 331 CID with a single 4BBL carb. (2x4 carbs offered on the Eldorado) Early OHV Caddie V-8 engines were noted for having brittle pistons, low grade fuels (Needs premium gas), improper timing or over reving the engine would cause the pistons to shatter mostly with disastrous results (wrist pins thru the cylinder). The rocker spear on the passenger side appears loose, check this area for damage. This car is not Elvis pink (his was pretty close to Mary Kay pink, think "titty" pink). This one is salmon pink. Interior chrome is dirty and weathered. Seller is somewhat of a puffer so check this one out before making any kind of an offer. Car is a nice well preserved example with some faults. Note orange wirenut under the radio.

That’s a beautiful car but I want a ‘61.:)

Buyers for the auctions come into town early and buy cars like that. They run them over the smaller action, consign them with the intent of flipping them for. Easy cash. Would be supplied to find that car at Russo Steele in a few weeks.

Good idea John. Now would you lend me 20 grand so I can buy it and flip it?

Dave, I think that the dual quad setup was optional on other models.

Thru most of the mid-50's there were multiple carb, GM dealer installed bolt on set ups. Olds and Pontiacs were usually 3x2 setups, Caddies usually 2x4's. I do not know if GM offered the 2x4 carbs as a standard factory installed option on anything except the Eldorado in '55, those were the most common. Back in my hot rod days we scoured the wrecking yards for multiple carb setups and I recall seeing them on a few other Caddies besides the Eldorado, but I had no way of knowing if they were dealer or factory installed. The cars with the 2x4 setups nearly always had blown engines. There were a lot of mid 50's Olds and Caddie engines with multiple carbs that found their way into '32 or '40 Fords and "Bucket" T's.

Eldorados had a multi-carb intake to the early 60s, if I recall it right.

I still prefer the 1961s. Very stylish still and not so huge in overall size:

If we take the classic 59 vs 60, I think that 60 Caddys are better. The just look smoother.
