1968 Pontiac GTO receiving its revolutionary Endura front bumper on the Pontiac assembly line. Developed and manufactured by GM's Inland Manufacturing Division, the Endura bumper could absorb impacts and bounce back without damage. Its construction was a urethane material over a steel inner frame. This was a first in the industry, but even more significant was the fact it was body colored, which dramatically changed the look of the GTO. Within a few years American car design would change to body colored bumpers, though not all were impact resistant.

built in the 1960s in East Germany. Poetically nicknamed the Blue Miracle, the huge bucket wheel excavator is believed to be the largest piece of abandoned machinery in the world.

It was constructed in Central Germany in the town of Lauchhammer. 3,500 tons of steel were used to build this enormous 370-foot long and 190-foot high excavator. Upon completion, it was painted a beautiful shade of blue, but over the years the color faded and in places completely disappeared as the structure rusted away.
