    1970 Plymouth Fury | eBay

Selling is a nice 1970 Plymouth Fury III Convertible, original 383 motor, automatic transmission, AC. This car was in the same family from original purchase and I have the original window sticker and build sheet. This car has been located in Hays, KS for many years used as a weekend and parade driver. The car runs smooth and drives like it should. What's been done to it? The local owner took good care of the car. New radiator, water pump, and at one point the car looks like it was repainted. The paint isn't perfect, but it's still nice. What does it need? The tabs for the convertible cover need some work at the corners. Most of them are there so the top snaps and hold, but over time a few of the plastic tabs snapped off. The Fury emblem on the drivers side is missing the F, but I have an original replacement for it. The radio antenna that's on there now really needs something better as the one on there now looks silly. The carpet along the door metal needs tucked back in place as it's popped out in places. Beyond that, back it off the trailer and drive it. Holler with questions. If you bid and buy it, I expect prompt deposit and schedule pickup after full payment.

This a a nice well preserved '70 vert, it appears to even have a solid dash pad and a decent interior and top. Looks to be a nice sunny day driver as it is, could use a good detailing of the engine compartment. Current bid at $7k probably has some more to go if the underside is solid. Does not appear to have a reserve and there is no info as to weather the A/C works or if the stated mileage is original.

Why is the spare tire there? My '70 is forward in between the rear wheel wells.

Yours isn't a convertible. Thats where it goes on a convertible. If it went between the wheel wells then it would interfere with the top.

Why does it have to be green?
I mean that looks good, but not my taste.

Green was one of the most popular "earth tone" colors for 1970.

That's a nice car . Any guess how far the bid will go ? I worked at a Dodge dealer back then.We used to joke that Chrysler bought the green paint from the army surplus by the tanker full !

That was obviously a very popular color in the early 70s and not only with Chrysler. I had a 72 International 1110 and a 70 AMC Hornet, both the same color. These are not the vehicles I owned but the color they were.

Starting in 68 the green colors were considered the “in” color. Chrysler though went as far as aggressively “suggesting” employees in the lease program order cars of the many shades of green paint, vinyl tops and interiors. In the Co. Car order package was a section promoting the various combinations of green paint and trim complete with paint chips, interior and vinyl top swatches. Dad kinda took the “suggestion“ and ordered one of his cars green. A dark green Signet in 68, triple green Fury 2dr in 69 (from sales bank) and a triple green Dart in 70.
Later shades of beige and tan became popular but not pushed as aggressively.

My house had pumpkin orange cabinets with avocado green appliances when I bought it. It looked awful and we tossed all of it with a remodel a few years later. The place was built in '74 at the height of the earth tone era.

Talked to the seller at length. Very, very nice guy. He responded promptly with the info I requested. The car looks solid and has full provenance (build sheet, window sticker, three owners/two families from new). The A/C works, and he send me two videos of the car -- a walk around, and the top moving up and down.

I decided to bid on the car on the basis of what I saw/read/heard, but have just been outbid and the auction now is at $8.9k with eight days to go. Looking at the bidding pattern, I wonder whether the current high bidder is a dealer: the reserve has been met so, for the car's sake, I hope an actual collector (really a member) gets it. This said, I expect the bidding to go quite a bit higher and I may yet follow. Meanwhile, here is a decode of the tag:
