What are your thoughts on color matching wheels? Really considering changing my color from white to that 1 year only red they had between 74-78. Not sure of the code though. Would that look too hokie?

tough call. I've color matched rims to an accent color like a body stripe and liked the way it brought things together. Sometimes light colored rims on a light colored car make some details 'disappear' by drawing your attention away. IMHO

I painted mine the factory wheel color (Argent Silver). Others have painted them body color. I prefer the Argent Silver. Stan painted his red (interior color).

Easy to paint them back if you don't like it & I bet you'll love it anyway.

If you look at Stan's (Commando1) signature picture you'll see his NY'er with the red wheel paint.

That thing just screams "road trip". Makes me want to throw beer cans out the window.

LOL! Thanks!!!!

I have taken numerous road trip with it the last couple of years. 14,000 miles in the last 2 years. Most recently I had my nephew from Milwaukee fly here to Maryland this past summer and we drove to Green Bay with a stop in Indiana for almost a week to visit Mike and work on my NY'er. She just roared down the open road.....

If I don't go with red, I will have them chrome dipped when I do the bumpers. I'm kinda wondering if I go red, would it be too much?

Maybe Stan can post a close up picture of his. He painted his wheels red.

100_0250.jpgMy '78 NYB St regis Coupe gas has colored center road wheels for 20 plus years on the one year only color car.. On the right car it looks great.

Thats looks REAL nice!! Very classy!
Extremely nice! Sharp looking car! That is the color I'm wanting. How do you feel about that color with white vinyl St Regis top? I've got white interior with that deep red highlights- dash, carpet, seat belts, and steering wheel. If you don't mind, could I get that paint code from you?

Here's a great paint chart with all the codes from 1957 to 1979 that I use.
