So I got this 22" radiator today, part number 2524984, with a shroud for the 500. It's for a '65 C body 383, either Auto or 4 speed, high altitude-A/C. Couple of questions, would this fit in a '66? What's the difference between this and a non high altitude radiator? The shroud is fiberglass, is this the way they came? I thought the were metal, but I've never checked into that too much. Held on with the wrong bolts, so that raised suspicion right there. Looks to be in good shape, I haven't had much time to look at it, other than general condition. Should fit bettet than the 26" unit that's I'm there now.

If memory serves me correctly, the mount points to install the radiator should be the same for '65 and '66. I think the the upper house routing was different for '66 and the T-Housing is probably also different. My guess is that if you can find the '66 T-Housing and the right molded hose for the "66 it should work. The high altitude radiators usually either had more tubes or a higher fin count to compensate for the less dense air moving thru the radiator. Shroud is a stock production item See: www.rosevillemoparts.com/reference_radiatorguide.php

Can you post some additional photos? Did you measure the radiator width? As you noted, a 22" radiator shroud should be metal. Does the part number on the radiator match a 65 C? Something does not look right in the photo. Almost looks like a 26" shroud was made to fit a 22".

I'll post the pics the seller had, shroud is very close in size to the radiator. Part number as stated, 2524984.

Rad looks nice, and will fit a 66 that had a 22" rad originally. Will not bolt in properly in a rad yoke for a 26" rad.

Shroud is NOT correct - I've never seen a plastic 22" rad shroud for 65-68 - looks almost GM-like... however if it fits and works who cares?

LocuMob the 65 radiator shrouds are metal as you see in the photo. Just got done painting and cleaning mine up. The original has 2 metal brackets for each side of the radiator, one with studs/nuts the other with bolts. I see them from time to time at swap meets.

Considering if my 65 radiator is original don't know, the numbers on mine are (2524984)

That is a valid PN for a 65 C body. Check the application to the parts book posted above. Also, look for a date code on the radiator.

A part number will have seven numbers. What’s the number circled?

There should be a second part number on the shroud on the top left corner along with the mopar pentastar. Looks like a stock shroud from a later year with the 22" radiator. 2524984 is the radiator part number.

Like I said, haven't had a chance to look into it further. Shroud looks like it should be there, I was just curious if they made fiberglass shrouds at all for a 22" radiator. I'll take a peak tomorrow and see if there is a part number.

So the shroud is probably a "made to work" item taken from somewhere else. I didn't see any numbers whatsoever anywhere on it. And it has been trimmed around the lower hose, possibly elsewhere too.

They bent the tabs on the radiator to line up the holes. It came off a '68 Charger so it should work. A little bit of crap I saw inside, but nothing terrible. This is a 3 row radiator, so it should work just fine for my needs, mainly cruising around.

Bent tabs.
