plastic bits in a 440

Ok, so what parts in a 440 are plastic besides timing gears? I ask because I found half a circle part in my oil pan. Looks like a guide but I can't find anything in the service manual that would point to it.
 
There may be nylon bushings on the distributor shaft. Are you sure it's not a mortified valve seal? Sometimes they get awful hard.
 
Collar on the bottom of the distributor splits and breaks.

Probably valve seal that turned solid. It gets so hard you can shatter it with a hammer. Otherwise there's not much for plastic in the crankcase itself aside from those parts.

Other possibility if you have after market pistons with floating pins, those have a plastic button, usually teflon, on each end of the pin. Would not expect to find those in the pan unless there is a serious problem with one of the pistons.

Easy to check the dist bushing, take the cap off if you can lift the shaft for a 1/4" it grenaded, really common.
