I'd had an exhaust manifold leak for a while and a nut that wouldn't accept a socket.
Well sir, I ground down a few sides on a socket which gave enough room to tap it on.
I'm 56 & don't enjoy crawling under cars like I used to, but I did it! And I replaced the gasket instead of not using one, per the factory. Head looked like it was painted with the gasket on, so a new one soaks up surface imbalances; no more embarrassment!

Make sure to re-tighten your manifold after a few heat cycles.

The waffle style exhaust manifold gaskets will compress quite a bit .

Lots of people don't like to use gaskets, but I have had good luck as long as I go back and snug them down a second time.

Exhaust ticks are the worst! Good work. I use just copper rtv on the turbo engine but usually use some gaskets and copper rtv with headers.
