Radiator Hoses-Which type is better?

If your car doesn't have A/C then there's a good chance that the upper hose won't work for you. See my comment above.

My car is an A/C car with the thermostat housing angled toward the passenger side. I believe A/C car radiators are different as well with the top hose exiting on the passenger side instead of out the middle?

That is correct unless the vehicle has the max cooling option on a non A/C car. I think it was around '69 that most radiators became 26" with the same hose routing.
