Rear Fender Tabs

What's the purpose of these two tabs on the bottom of the rear fender? (70 Fury)

Probably a holding/alignment device of sorts for when the panel was welded to the body at the assy plant's "body shop"? And just left there as the car went on through the assy line. Not unlike the lower rear front fender bolts that are exposed and brush-painted black on the Formals?

Other ideas or knowledge?

That’s a good guess, my first thought was that they are a spot for water to drip from.

I have never seen those on any Mopar.

Mind you, I haven't seen ALL the Mopars in this world.....
