So what is used to keep the glass solid and stuck to the bottom bracket?

There is a rubber/ butyl tape. When I re did mine I re used the original rubber tape with some black sealer.
Somewhere I have a window thread from a couple of years ago where I discussed the different options. It could be in my rebuild thread too. I would have to search.
