I have removed all bolts from the pump and removed the filter it turns around freely but will not pull out of block. Am I missing a step.. THX

I usually undo the left motor mount and jack the motor up a bit to get some elbow room.
Sometimes a whack with a hammer or pry with screwdriver may help.

Last resort.....You may have to pull the distributor and the oil pump gear if it is being very stubborn.
Make sure you have the rotor pointing at #1 TDC and mark where the oil pump gear is related to #1.
Hope this helps

Its usually stuck because of an O-ring on the shaft housing that is in the block, simply get a screwdriver between the oil pump and block and work it free. It will come.

You haven't missed anything. The O ring seal is probably holding it in.

I use a rubber mallet to persuade them to break that little vacuum which holds them on. They come off easier while the engine is WARM too.
