All these guys are wrong about the 15 x 7 rims being painted.

They have a plastic applique like this. This is one from the 15 x 7 on my car.

Of course, nothing says you can't paint them.

The ones I got my hands on were painted. No plastic.

    Someone probably painted them.

Two of mine were painted too... By the previous owner.

Of course, I could be wrong, but it's also wrong to say they were all painted, because they weren't.

    But what do I know?

I agree. I'm gonna say there's no reason to believe they were all one way or the other.

I've honestly never seen that plastic cover.

    Thanks for the lesson.

Some people don't even believe 15x7 road wheels exist...

Mine are painted on my New Yorker. Not the plastic applique. They are not perfect or may not be correct but the best I could find.

Judging by the trim ring, they also don't look like 15 x 7.

I bought some on here from @azblackhemi and then a couple more on eBay. The eBay seller thought they were (ready for this) Max Wedge velocity stacks. I burst his bubble on that one...

I've really never looked into what cars used them. All I know is some Diplomats, possibly just wagons, were available with them. That is the only cars that I've ever seen referenced when talking about these wheels.

C body road wheels were painted - the plastic applique was used on the late 70s Lebaron road wheels and those wheels are 15x7.
and fwiw, 78 NYB Salons had 15x7 roadwheels ( same as the Magnum GT) - they were painted black and had an "aluminum fascia basket" covering them.....

I've heard they came on trucks and vans as well.

Yes, they are 15"×7". Not sure what the trim rings are but they fit/work.

The ones I sold John came off of a Canadian Diplomat wagon.

In my description of the M body era 15x7s I should have mentioned the centres were all chrome (under the filler disc too) since there was no need to mask and paint as that was covered by the use of the plastic fillers.
