got a call last weekend, saying if we wanted a rough 70 chrysler, we'd better get to the scrapper right away because it was going to be crushed in an hour...
so we headed over in my buddy's flatdeck.
its a 70 Newport convertible with buckets, console shift, pw, tilt & tele, an AM 8 track, auto headlight dimmer and road wheels. A3, black top, white interior.
its pretty nasty and rusty. it was a 383 4v but the motor has been swapped out for a 400 2v.
missing the windshield and back bumper.
pretty much everything is spoken but the grille and tail lights.

and i had just got my back yard all cleared out.........

Thank you for posting photos and the tags of CE27N0C110050. This is/was a rare N-code Newport 'vert!

Nicely equipped but, as is often the case for C-VON 'verts, no air on C28846 . Assuming the tonneau cover is original, the above photos confirm that the cover color matches that of the interior vinyl (E6XW white here), not of the top (V1X black).

For my 1970 Fury Convertible, EW1 white is original body color. V3W white convertible top. Tonneau cover is green, M4F8 green original interior color.

What nice car it was! It makes me wonder if people intentionally destroy their car just so no one else can have the car.

Wow. Torn from the jaws of the crusher with proof. I have tried to talk a scrappy into getting out of the line to no avail.

Once they are unloaded in the car crush line they are gone here.

we got the car running, it actually runs very well and goes into gear smoothly - wasnt expecting that !
theres no brakes of course but at least we can move it around easily if need be.
the coolant is green and oil level is good.
the 400 2v has the HP manifolds on which is a bonus.
havent started taking any parts off yet, i still owe a little bit of money on it and dont want to start until its paid in full.

I have a dumb question. Is that N motor the same as a roadrunner or is it the 330 horse 4bbl type like in a satellite. Just wondering.

and PS man is that a crying shame what a cool ride.

The hole in the left floorboard.... isn't that a factory "fresh air vent" for cars not equipped with A/C?
No wait that is a Flintstone Brake Assist for front drum brake cars....right?

This is new to me as Arizona has no such holes in the floors from salt just hell on earth UV from the sun.

Gonna be 87 F degrees this Saturday....can't wait for summer to show up.
