I get goose bumps when I think of all the men and women who have served and sacrificed for our great nation. Everyone should step back and take a look at what it means when its said " all gave some, some gave all....and reflect on what that truly means. God bless the USA and troops that protect our freedom!!!!

Sorry guyz, I miss-spoke in my last post. Went in in '56 got discharged in '58. FWI, When I chose to join, My Recruiter said my options were 6Mo. 2, 3, 4, or 6 active Duty. I chose 2 simply because of the differentes in active-inactive reserve options and congress changed those options in '57 that changed me to 2 years active duty and 6 years in-active reserve. What's to argue about that? So many joining at that time that we had to stage for 12 weeks at the MCRD staging barracks and then had 12 more weeks of Boot Camp 'cuz there were no empty quonset huts to house the new platoons.(we had to wait 'til some platoons graduated and headed to Pentilton for advanced training). Totally 24 weeks humpin' on that 1000X300 sq.yd. grinder and then a lap around the whole frickin' base right after chow. SHISH, Such fun we had barfin' on ourselves while we're runnin' but most of us made it thru' and I sometimes still wonder how.

Too mean or too stupid to just give it up and croke I guess. They keep inventing new Titanium partz to replace my worn out shit. If I fell out of a boat while fishin', I better have TWO life vests on or I'd be headed straight to the bottom. Speakin' 'bout that, we should talk even if it iz still half year away. Make sure your inbox haz some room, Jer

I was some signatures away from the Marines. Then I got sidetracked by all the mechanical things to learn about in the Navy and the rest is history as they say.
Still the coolest dress uniform ever!
