SFGT Surprised me Over the Weekend

Took my '70 GT out for its first ride of Spring. Drove down to Island Dragway for their Nostalgic Drags show Sunday.

On the second pass it pulled a 1.9 60ft & broke into the 13s! Not bad for a very mild 440 with 3.23 gears.

Nice slip. Tell us about how this car is set up.
What torque converter?
Does it have AC?
What radiator and fan.
Did that on those Cooper cobra tires?

No AC, oem 22" rad & fixed fan blade. Engine was rebuilt with 6 pack pistons, sub 500 lift hydraulic flat tappet cam, oem valve train on otb Stealth heads. 800cfm avs2, hp manifolds.

Over Memorial weekend I threw in a used 340/383-4bbl factory high stall converter & an A&A 5400 shift governor. Those two things woke the car right up.

WOOHOO, alright Charles! Thats awesome, and not bad at all. I see you beat your time at Lebanon Valley from last year too, thats even more reason to be happy. I guess it does have more in it like you said, BUT does it have even more and will you go even faster? Probably a more snappier racing type gear will do the trick if you were maybe going to go that route. You should do a comparison with the white car now, I would like to know the results. I also know its a long ways away but I can’t wait for the black 6bbl car, and the green car showdown too!

I had 3.91s in it up at Lebanon. What it really needs is more power to mph better.

There is more in it if it'll launch harder without spinning but it's only gonna et so fast with it trapping 96mph..

I may toss in some 3.55s after Carlisle for haha. I think that may be the ideal gear all around but I dont think itll improve the times very much.

This is great. I see a lot of so-called muscle cars that don't drop into the 13's. Good job!
