Hi,

some month ago, my 69 imperial starts to have problem.
She always fired right up, but little by little, it has become a hell : need to insist on the ignition switch, put gas in the carb... all of this. And the car just came back from the mechanic..

The symptoms were :
- hard to start, need to stay ont the starter too long
- when starts, dies right up
- need to maintain the key on ignition long enough to prevent dying

the cause was : the ignition switch. some contact inside was messing. I never found what. I disassembled it but I did not see..

simple test to check :
- remove the ignition switch ( 1 minute on my 69 imperial )
- take wires
- put together Bat/IGN1/ACC ( if you want them to work )/IGN2 + 1 wire for ST ( just connect it to the other but not the the harness ).
- put the ground on ground
- to start the car : make contact with ST with the other ones. ( disconnect BAT to end )

my car starts right up, at the first time and idles fine and she was cold.
so my problem is definitly the switch.

hope it will help someone...
