does anyone know what the special order 6 cylinder, VIN code C, made from 66-69 is or if the specs are any different from a regular slant 6?

If there is one, the special order code should be on the fender tag. the eng code B is for all 225 models 66-69, regardless of A or B body.No C in any of the dealer Books. The Letter C is first used in 1970 for the 225 engine.I say it is a G,and he is blind.

Special Order 6 is indeed a "C" for the engine callout in the VIN. "A" is 170, "B" is 225, and "C" is Special Order 6.

    I show that in my '66 Coronet/Dart, '67 Valiant/Belvedere/Fury, and '68 Coronet/Dart factory service manuals.

"Police Patrol" packages (city patrol cars, as opposed to the "Police Pursuit" package, which was a 318, 383, or 440, depending on optioning), as well as taxicabs, likely had this as the engine character, which would indicate a more severe-use protocol (HD cooling, trans cooler, HD alternator, etc) as part of a "special order 6" package.

I've learned over the years that almost all the "special ordered" cars weren't. ESPECIALLY when it comes to drivetrains.
It takes a lot to convince me something is the real deal.
You could BS me a lot when I was 16. Very rarely now.

In 69' There is Indeed a C for special order 6, but the Blue Mopar parts book clearly refers to Police and Taxi only. I did see a 68' Charger back in 1976 with the slant six, and it had a B in the VIN, with a special order code on the fender tag. I cannot remember the exact code, but I'm sure someone here has seen one of those.

I was under the impression that the /6 was standard for the Fury I II And III.

As has already been said, the C in '70 indicated 225. My '70 Challenger had it and had one. Nothing special about it by then. Would love to have one today though!!!

Let's not forget the "Special Order 8", which was likely applied to cop cars and taxis, too. There was a 1969 Dart GTS that had an "L" fraudulently stamped in a VIN years ago by someone who apparently thought the "L" indicated a 440 Dart GTS. Wrong! That is an "M" and not an "L". What that car really IS, is a 383 Dart GTS. It's not an "L", either, it is an "H" callout in the VIN. That problem has been rectified, and the car once again shows an "H", as it's supposed to.
