Hello group. Putting a carter avs together with speed control linkage. Apparently there are two types of speed control cables. I have one with an elongated slot. (See pic) Is this cable correct for a 1971 new Yorker with a 440 TNT? There is a pin attached to the carburetor for the pedal linkage. Does the speed control cable attach to this pin? I also have a floating pin attached to the carburetor. This floating pin is for the speed control cable (without the elongated slot?)

The cable should have a round end and it connects to that floating piece on the carb. I’m not familiar with that slot in the cable end.

Here’s some close up photos of the lost motion linkage connected to the cruise cable. The cable you have will not work with the factory cruise linkage. my pictures are of a newer edelbrock carb with Chrysler Carb adapter on my 69 - 383 Fury

Are you sure the cruise control unit on the car is OEM factory?

Could you post a few pictures of your cruise control ? If it’s a factory setup I have a couple of those cables . I would be able to help you out if you need one .

The chrysler is disassembled now in the body shop. It's been in the family since new. My father bought it in December of 1970. It's a 71 New Yorker 2 dr HT with a 440 TNT. It came factory with a cruse control unit. Will have to find the box its stored in. Have the original speed control cable, but from heat, the sheathing has deteriorated.

I purchased cable on line several yrs ago. But apparently, without checking the original, purchased the wrong one.

To make the situation more difficult, the orginal carter avs has gone missing. Have the original manifold. I found a replacement carb on ebay. Had the speed control attachment (from my original carburetor for my 86 ram charger- long since gone.)

Yes contact me about this cable.
