Starter plate

I had a starter plate but I think cleaning up I tossed it! Do you need it or no? It looked something like this one!

It's not essential on most cars. I could see a scenario where it might make the difference between a starter that grinds a bit and one that doesn't, but that would be rare.

I definitely could have used that a while back, as my dad and I installed a mini starter, and once installed, you could still clearly see the flywheel. We made a plate out of tin and used it to cover the gap, no issues after install.
