I have recently develop a problem while driving and I think it is in the distributor.
I have been fighting the off line hesitation with a 383 and a 1411 Eldebrock.
Finally got that figured out and now have a very crisp response with no stumble at all.
But recently as I'm driving and if I get into the pedal when I let off it has a extremely high idle. If I just cruise around and never get into it nothing happens. But if I park and leave within 15 min it starts up with a very high idle.
Choke is not sticking, can't find any vacuum leaks and has a Pertronix II installed.
Any ideas? I have yet to open the distributor up but I'm thinking maybe the advance is sticking .
Thanks

Thanks I will look at that. Maybe I screwed something up while RE installing the carb top.

When it does it (high idle) check out to make sure fast idle cam is loose not holding throttle open. You can adjust a small amount, to not effect choke overall operation, by turning choke stove to the lean side a bit
