When I received my car, I noticed the console was slanted on one side (towards the passenger side). I thought nothing of it because the console had been removed by the seller (to work on floorpans) and then put back without too much care.

But lately, I removed the console myself, and wanting too see why it was slanted, I saw that in fact the floor brackets as well as the whole lever assembly were slanted.

    How is it possible?
    Am I missing something?
Or is it a factory blunder?

Do you have a fender tag or broadcast sheet?

is C16 and C55 on both of them? What is the interior code?

Please post a photo of it.

Yes, both codes are on the dataplate.
And I should add that the lever assembly and bracket do not look like they have been messed with since the car came out of the factory.

Console brackets should be the same color as the OE finish and welded in place. Yes, it's possible that it was welded in that poorly.

Boy that is really out of whack. I can't imagine someone accepting that on a brand new car. Something must have got shoved in the car and bent the crap out of it.

    They are.

    That's what I'm thinking also.

Nope. Nothing seems to have been bent or welded back.
Everything seems to be at the same place as it was when the car left the factory.

The strange thing is that the shaft coming from the transmission is at the same angle.

Have you pulled the carpet back? I think when you see the work done by the previous owner you'll have your answer.

    Yes I did already.
As I said, nothing is bent or welded back.
It looks like it came that way from factory.

Anybody have a console shifted C body and a camera? That bracket doesn't look right.

I've seen them tilted both ways. My Turquoise 66 Monaco's console was ever so slightly tilted towards the driver.
