Anybody come across a fender tag like this?
Canadian built 65 sport fury 4 spd car. Told it was a 383 car and judging by the commando v8 emblems I assume that is correct. All I can gather from this tag is body type, paint and interior colour/style. Don’t know what the 2116 means?

That tag is Canadian only and the car should have a normal fender tag that is if it is not long gone.
Nigel Mills at National Moparts will have information that can be helpfull to you.

I figured it must have been a Canadian thing. All my cars are 68 and newer so that’s what I’m familiar with but that’s after they made the auto pact so everything was the same as US market cars. I will have to look better when I go through the car. The hinges are off so I was holding up the hood with one hand and took a picture of this tag with the other

That Canadian body plate was used by Chrysler of Canada from about 1935 through to and including 1965. Starting with the 1966 models Chrysler of Canada began using the US body plate as they started shipping cars (Dodge Darts) to the U.S.

MODEL NUMBER : A-P2-H-23
A - Model Year - 1965
P - Car Line - Plymouth Fury (C body)
2 - Engine - V8 (1 would be for a slant six engine)
H - Series - Fury III (or Sport Fury - see Trim Code)
23 - Body Style - 2dr Hardtop

BODY NUMBER : 2116 - 2,116 model A-P2-H-23 built

PAINT CODE: JJ : Jade Metallic (also used in 1964 as Turquoise Metallic)

TRIM CODE : P4X : P - Seat Style & Upholstery : Vinyl Bucket Seats
4 - Premium Series : Sport Fury
X - Trim Colour : Black
(P5 was used for Fury III 4dr Hardtop with Vinyl Bucket Seats)

The above confusing model number system was also used on the Canadian 1965 Dodge Polara 880 and Monaco.

Thanks for the info Bill, The 2116 was the last thing on the tag I wasn’t sure about. I went and looked around an auto wrecker that has lots of old cars and their were a bunch of Canadian fender tags like it. I guess I just never paid enough attention before. Other than A few older trucks all my cars are 1968-73, so that’s what I’m familiar with.

From what I can find Canadian sport fury’s only had 4 engine options. The 225, 318 2bbl, 383 4bbl and the 413 4bbl. Commando v8 emblems rule out the 318. But I guess there is no way to know for sure if it was a 383 or 413 car. I found the exhaust manifolds but they share the same casting number from 361-426wedge that year. I also found a 10.5” pressure plate/clutch when I was cleaning it out, would the 413/426 cars have come with 11”? or were there only one size in 65?

There was an 11" clutch in 1965, but it was used on 1965 Plymouth Fury Six and Dodge Polara Six Taxi models in Canada.

The 10½" clutch was used on 318 (AP2, AD2), 361 (AC1), 383 (AP2, AD2, AC2) and 413 (AP2, AD2, AC3)

Engine numbers prefixes for Canadian 1965 C body engines :
225 - A - (AP1. AD1)
318 - AV- (AP2, AD2)
361 - AC1- (AC1)
383 - AC2 (AC2) / AC1-HP (AC1) / AV-HP - (AP2, AD2)
413 - AC3 (AC3) / AV-MP (AP2, AD2)
