With Ford saying they are no longer investing development $$ in internal combustion power plants, it seems the days of collector vehicles and gasoline vehicles in general is losing ground increasingly in the near future. To be introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show this coming week, is the new Mustang Electric crossover SUV with up to 459 horsepower and at least a 300 mile range. Ford is also building a network of some 12,000 charging stations across the U.S. I will be attending press days there this week to take a look at all the electrics being introduced by quite a few manufacturers.

Yes, as manufacturers rapidly add EVs to their mainstream offerings, prices will go down rapidly as is the case with all new technologies that catch on. We will see........................

At least they made it look like it has a grille. To see a Tesla from the front just pisses me off.

I’m fine with an EV, it is inevitable, but a Mustang Crossover? That’s the end of humanity right there.

That's the ugliest vehicle I've seen in a while. And only a 300 mile range when new? No thanks. These EVs do nothing for me.

The days of us wrench turners are going to fade into history. The American automotive mechanic that worked on internal combustion engines will be a statue in a museum right next to Walter P's tool box!

Looks like a Mazda Cross over.

The Mustang gene pool has been watered down once again...:(

R&R baby, pull out the whole component and swap it. We have been heading this way for years. You have to own a Asian car to be able to just change a ball joint, on a domestic the only way it comes is entire control arm.
It makes sense in certain places on the car. The other non green thing on new cars is entire taillight assembly instead of a bulb. At least the control arm with bad ball joint is recyclable the tail light is not.

I personally will never drive an electric car. We must all fight against the fad and not buy them.

As nice as this fad fighting is, we are the few that will fight back but the masses are more inclined to go electric.
I think it would be cool to retro-fit one of our beasts to electric.
Think of the monster torque that could be produced at the flick of a switch.
I have no problem with this as long as they can go the distance between charges if you are on a road trip.
One thing for sure is that electric cars won't sound like cheap ricers with loud exhausts that annoy the neighbours when they drive down the street at 3am...

Unfortunately, that won't work. There are too many people who DO want them. I for one, would drive a Tesla in a heartbeat. Once they find a way to get better range out of them, that's when I'll start focusing more on it.

    Mopar is already doing that!

Mopar has a 3rd party vendor that does all of the R&R on the 8.4 radio's. When the radio has a problem the Mopar Tech retrieves the radio serial number and the software package code and orders a replacement radio from the 3rd party vendor.

The issue with me is I refuse to drive new cars, or any car from the last 25 years for that matter. I live off nostalgia and driving a classic daily is more of a heritage thing for me.

I will continue to buy fossil fuel as long as it is available to me within reasonable means. If for some reason at any point the supply is not available, I will convert my cars to run on propane. Electric engines just don't turn me on. (pun intended)

The EV market before it becomes mainstream checklist:

300 mile range, (that’s what I get now in my Dino Drive)
    Under 30k that fits 5
Lose the Pri-Ass look with a decent retro style
Charging stations everywhere there is gasoline with under 30 minute quick charge

We are almost there, but I doubt the gas engine beasts will go away anytime soon, at least not in the rest of my lifetime.

They've diluted an icon by calling that thing a Mustang. Hopefully they come to there senses and name it something else. It's not a Mustang. Putting an E on the end (Mustang Mach-E GT) doesn't change that fact that they've made, yet another nondescript crossover POS.

I've got a feeling that Ford is jumping the shark by going all sport utility/crossover and may do the same with all electric. Is Tesla back out of the red yet?
