What I don’t understand with this mad race to electrify the industry is that the typical residential power grid is not equipped to handle the load from dozens of fast charging ev’s every night after the commute home. It’s great that a National Petrol company has added fast charging stations across Canada but that’s little comfort if they are 500kms apart. Obviously the early adopters will be the urbanites as the rural folks will still need to drive distances and operate machinery so as far as a revolution in the industry it will be slow moving IMHO. This latest Ford offering is obviously mis-named and can only serve to piss off true Mustang owners kinda like calling a minivan a Challenger Max

They aren't calling it a Mustang. It's just called the "Mach-E." It's a Mustang INSPIRED design, hence the "Mach" designation.

I stand corrected. They had initially stated they were not using the Mustang name. They can burn in hell now.

I'll be at the Auto Show this weekend as well. You guys are hitting all the marks here of my concern with these EVs, and the mustang name. I'll be studying it at the show.

I've also found the push for all electric vehicles odd. That's an interesting theory you've laid out.

I drive a Tesla 3 now as my DD and I love it. Dual motors, 300 mile range, excellent traction (especially in snow), great sound system, and no more trips to the gas station 3x a week.
It was a huge relief from driving my NY all the time and then working on it nights and weekends to keep it going. Not to mention the gas money...and other "personal" costs.
That aside, the concerns about battery raw materials and disposal hold true for me. Switching to EV's lessens our energy independence, as we'll rely more on third world supplies of the rare minerals required for their manufacture.
Ironically, with the rise of electricity demand, many power plants here in California have and will be shutting down. San Onofre (nuclear), Morro Bay (gas), and soon to be Diablo Canyon (nuclear). This is ridiculous.

"My uncle has a country place...That no one knows about. He says it used to be a farm, before the Motor Law. On Sundays I elude the eyes, and hop the turbine freight. To far outside the wire, where my white-haired uncle waits. Jump to the ground as the Turbo slows to cross the borderline. Run like the wind, as excitement shivers up and down my spine. Down in his barn, my uncle preserved for me an old machine for fifty odd years. To keep it as new has been his dearest dream. I strip away the old debris that hides a shining car...A brilliant DODGE POLARA from a better vanished time. I fire up the willing engine, responding with a roar. Tires spitting gravel, I commit my weekly crime. Wind...in my hair...Shifting and drifting... mechanical music...adrenaline surge...
Well-weathered leather, hot metal and oil, the scented country air. Sunlight on chrome, the blur of the landscape, Every nerve aware...Suddenly ahead of me, across the mountainside, a gleaming alloy air car shoots towards me, two lanes wide.
I spin around with shrieking tires, to run the deadly race. Go screaming through the valley as another joins the chase. Drive like the wind, straining the limits of machine and man. Laughing out loud with fear and hope, I've got a desperate plan. At the one-lane bridge, I leave the giants stranded at the riverside. Race back to the farm, to dream with my uncle at the fireside..."

This is what bothers me about new vehicles is the need for a yuge screen, yet no way to turn the damn thing off.

The tech in new cars are super distracting. IMO the touch screens are a huge hazard. You have to look at them to make adjustments, search through menus, etc. I miss physical mechanical buttons and switches.

They use voice control and SWC unless you're parked.
