We returned home yesterday from one of the most fantastic car show experiences I have ever attended.
We left on a cool but sunny Wed mid morning and drove to Meridian Miss where, upon exiting the interstate, there was a 74 Plymouth Custom Suburban turning into the truck stop in front of me. I drove in and pulled up next to him. His name is Randy Routt and he's a member here, although not very active. user name 74 suburban, I think. The batt was dead in my camera, (might know), but he took pictures and said he would post them here. (I haven't found them if he did).
1st night was spent at a quant rv park in Laurel Miss.

We arrived at the host hotel in Kenner early on Thursday. Next door was a huge exibit hall, and behind it I found several RV hookups, but no RV's. Some checking around and we were able to rent a space, right next to the hotel, for $40.00 a night. No one else ever came back there.
Ellie and I spent the evening in the 1/4 and had a blast. I packed away 2 lbs of crawfish......

DSC03620.JPG DSC03624.JPG DSC03622.JPG DSC03623.JPG DSC03626.JPG Friday was the day of the "New Orleans experience". It's a day before the show optional event, different every year. We met for a buffet breakfast in the hotel and received the days artinnary before loading onto the three tour busses, about 200 plus folks.
First stop was the Destrehan plantation. Said to be the largest existing plantation, from the late 1700's.
We were treated to a full tour followed by a lunch served under a 200 year old oak tree.

Then back on the buses and off to the French quarter for the afternoon. Lovely, sunny & 75 degrees, a scavenger hunt to get the first picture with a voo doo doll texted to the club president for a prize. I had the winning pic of Ellie with the doll within 10 minutes of arriving in the 1/4. but forgot to bring the phone number. We found a great old bar and had a couple drinks, then another couple from the tour came in and we had a few more drinks. Walked around awile and bought a sack of Beignet's, (Ellies first), and sat on a bench on the Mississippi river until the busses returned.
All the pictures of this are on my phone and I have no idea how to post them here. But it was FUN.........!

Darkness came and a second line band came our of nowhere. There were never ending king cake and hurricane shooters. and over 150 folks paraded down to the river, with a police escort, to little garage bar there then back again.
There were several guys and girls with flower bouquets DSC03647.JPG DSC03648.JPG DSC03651.JPG DSC03652.JPG that would let you have one for a kiss. Whoever got the most flowers upon returning to the party won a $100.00.
Wasen't me, some girl won, but I had fun trying.

Did I mention that there was also a car show.......? It was Saturday for those who survived the Friday party. (Most of the early arrivals weren't at the party).
Paul Reynolds, (pres of the Big Easy Mopar Assn.) let us bring Connie into the show, which we did, and set up to allow anyone who wanted to come in for a look. Free cookies and coffee was offered with the tour.
To my surprise, Rob Wolf even came and looked as well as Tim and Pam Welborn.
