Pass side window on my ‘69 convertible fell off the track and will not roll up or down. I thought it was the missing door gasket thingy (can’t remember what it’s called even though you guys figured it out for me) pinching the glass. But same gap taper on drivers side so I should do some troubleshooting after I do the repair. There you go perfectly backwards.

Ok here we go. The job can be done with basic hand tools. Lay everything out on your work table and don’t lose any fasteners Ace doesn’t have replacements.

Now time to survey the damage. The glass rivets are plastic and old. This equals brittleness and it’s actually a good thing. I’d rather lose a rivet than break the glass...

The arm had swung all the way up as a helper turned the crank while it was off the track. It’s like wet paint - - - why do they have to touch it. Anyways they set the arm off it’s gear by cranking it while it was disconnected. No harm no foul just feed it back onto the gear. Once done it’s a good time to lube everything. I use spray chain lube because it sticks pretty well.

Feed the arm slider block onto the rail.

Then pop in new rivets and screw the rail back on to the glass. Not too hard just nice and snug like a factory line worker would do it.

Now throw everything back on in reverse order and you’re good.

Now for the Bonus project.

It’s time to replace my neat little antenna topper.

I liked the old one so I purchased the same type. It’s a solid choice.

Carefully drain all the liquid. Try not to waste any while disposing of it properly.

I did troubleshoot the problem. The whiskers pretty much roached and it’s keeping the glass from rolling up smoothly. The rivets did their job and failed rather than breaking the glass. I’m not fixing it for now as if you pull the glass towards you a bit it rolls up perfectly fine. I’ll add it to the driving list. You all know what I mean. That list of things one must do if your gonna drive my car.

The real fix will be a new set of whiskers the door jamb thingy was a red herring.

I purchased the rivets from these guys. Super nice and he’d go to all the trouble to ship me one so I told him what the heck send me 20 bucks worth and make it worth your while. They’re out of Arizona.

There’s the part number for 1969 and probably ‘70 too but check as I’m not 100% sure.

'71 Torino? Love those '70/'71 Fords. 1970 1/2 Falcon is a personal favourite
Yah good eye, it’s a ‘71 351C GT. I was going to build a Mad Max car out of it but the clock ran out on it. I’ve had it since the 90’s. I’m just getting it cleaned up to send down the road. Promised my daughter she could have it to drive or sell it for college money.

I’ll miss it. Great hwy car did 85 - 90 mph all day long driving it out here to LA from PHX.

Yes, that rear side window profile used on the Ford Falcon XA to XC Hardtops here. I see a lad in Canada did just that, used it build a Mad Max car out of (check out Nick's Garage on YouTube). Speaking of Mad Max, went out to Silverton (outside Broken Hill) in New South Wales 9 years ago next month, purely to have a gander at where they filmed Mad Max II (Road Warrior in US). Took bloody AGES of desert driving to get there, phew! Hot as!
