Ok so it's not a C-body but many of the resto techniques we use on the cars will apply here. This will be my winter project, I know lots of you guy's have used product's like Por-15 and Rust bullet. I want to know from experience what worked, what can be painted over, Etc...

I plan on cleaning the rust off, repairing any rust holes(there are some), rewiring it and new lights, new wheels and tires, new hitch coupler. After the rust is treated I will paint it with frame paint. The deck I will coat with spray on bed liner. I will build some wood sides for it also.

It's a old tilt snowmobile trailer that will be given new life as a utility trailer for lawnmowers, my kid's quad, dirt bike and what ever else we can think of.

Here's a couple of pic's of what I am starting with, sorry for the bad quality.

I used por-15 on some surface rust in the trunk of my 68 Monaco. It took the grey spatter paint quite well. Por-15 is possibly my favorite ESP for applications such as yours. Done correctly, you can rap on that stuff with a framing hammer and not chip it... the only issue I cannot answer is how it would take a "finish coat" of paint. As I said, I just shot trunk paint over it and it worked for those purposes. .. good luck, man.

I used some POR-15 on a Ramcharger that I had years ago. I put a little rattle can rustoleum over it to cover it and keep the UV away. A few years later when I was having the whole truck repainted it was still tough as nails.

Follow the instructions to the 'T" and you should be fine. There are instructions for applying top coats, but I don't remember what it was.

So this thing has been waiting for some love, I pulled the hubs, blasted them, packed the bearings and threw some paint at them

On your trailer bed, roller applied paint from your farm store of choice would probably be just fine.
I just did an equipment trailer that was Caterpillar yellow with a $20 gallon of oil based tractor paint from Rural King. Looks just fine, the upcoming scratches it's sure to get won't bother me a bit.
(PS Seeing your snow plow brings back memories. Don't miss those Imlay City winters at all).

Here's a little lipstick for my pig :D

I was thinking about some of the tractor paint from TSC after I treat the rust.
