Trim Install Question

Hello all. Finally have the grille surround upper trim & clips for my 70 Newport.
When installing, clips on first then slide trim on or clips on trim & press in?

Generally speaking, you install the clips on the trim and press them in. Most times you can't "slide" trim over installed clips with much success.

But!! I'm not real sure of what trim you are installing. A picture is worth a thousand words here.

If they have a push pin, mount them to the body, and then use your hands or even a rubber mallet to install the trim. If they have a threaded shaft then those are meant to be installed on the trim first.
