Removed all my old trunk weather stripping today and want to clean up the old glue and rubber still stuck to it. I have managed to get the majority of it off with a plastic scraper, but wondering if there is some kind of solvent or ??? that will get all of it softened up without wrecking the paint? Any suggestions would be great. CG

I wrecked the paint and used a die grinder. Who cares? It's covered with 3M adhesive then weatherstripping, so You can't see below the weatherstripping anyway. Also, verified my car's serial #. 1970 Fury Convertible. Much quieter car now.

Any 2-k car paint thinner should work, also toluene solvent should work too. Test with some hidden place before, don't use solvent to much and wipe the surface immediately dry .
