These two '72 Newports have been for sale for 3-4 weeks. Neither sports its original paint. Both have a 400 engine.

1. The blue Newport Custom is advertised on FB in Tacoma near Spokane, WA. It looks like it has a D3B8 blue cloth & vinyl bench/armrest interior; from the radiator support, my guess is that it was originally GB5 -- in which case, I don't get why the owner ever repainted the car in flat blue. The good news is that it did not get a thorough paint job (see, e.g., the door jambs), so might be brought back to its original shape. Priced at $7.5k, which probably explains why it's been sitting.

2. The black Newport Royal is advertised is on FB in Fayetteville near Hickory, NC. It looks like A1F6 green cloth & vinyl bench. Technically black paint/top were available with a green interior, so I don't know if the black repaint is original color or not. Looks overpriced at the $16.5k asking price.

I like these old Newps .. not exactly what was done to these particular specimens would be my choices for them, but they don't appear to be unrecoverable IF a more original look was desired.

These asking prices are pretty tall though .. again nice old cars but not sure these prices will be easy to get. Still I have a "begrudging" kinda appreciation for their owner(s) for saving them and, like any of us according to our tastes, doing stuff they liked to get them the way they wanted.

as always, hope they get good homes for whatever they transact for.

Iv'e been coming across the blue car for a while. It would be a good daily driver minus the super sport stripes. Any fuselage car is rare out west any more but that will probably soak until the price cuts by one third.if it had paint of any kind he would be a lot closer. International buyer may do it though.

The blue Newport Custom is missing its full-length BSM with two-tone color insert. This said, the color combo is a very nice one (and the lack of vinyl roof from build, as can be seen from squinting at the fender tag, is a plus for some buyers) so it should sell if priced between $5-6k.

The blue Newport in Washington State is down $500, to $7k ask.

Just as a FYI,Tacoma is close to Seattle but 300 miles from Spokane which is in Eastern Washington.

I know, I've been to both places. The FB algorithm must be using my definition of "proximity" because the car first popped up on my radar screen when I was looking for a car in Spokane
