I have 2 different tanks off 2 cars. The left is off a 67 new yorker for sure and the right is off a 68.
I believe the 67 was on the drivers side also.
I know there are pictures in the thread mentioned.I would not try to move the mounting ears.
What about getting a tomato sauce can and draining from the center, and adding the vacuum port?.I have a large style can with port or patch the can?

Just purchased a tank on ebay. Wish i had seen your post sooner. Tank on the right top picture appears as thou it would work.
