Valve Cover Stud Locations, please?

I can't for sure remember where the two studs go for BB valve covers, and I've looked at lots of pix....sometimes with differing results. :BangHead:

I think the studs go in the outboard lower corners like I have marked here on my repro covers, but I've seen a pic or two of the studs in the two upper (other side) holes...... :confused:

Looking forward to painting these things and installing with my repop bolt kit!

I suspect the only reason for those studs would be to help the engine line people install the valve covers BEFORE the rest of the bolts are put into the mix. Like hang the covers on the studs and loosely put the nuts on them, engine mores to next station, rest of the bolts are inserted into their holes, next station, torque bolts and nuts to spec. In this scenario, putting them on the outboard lower end positions would make sense, it seems.

Agreed. There would be no technical-torque-gasket sealing reason for the studs. And the gasket is captivated in the cover. So....logistics!
