Ok, what the heck is it? some sort of fluid circulation meter? I really don’t know.
Maybe it’d be familiar to some of the older crowd?
Can’t see it in the pics but there’s a check ball in the top chamber.

Google lens says it's either a fuel filter or it's Satvia wax.

Soo.. I'm going with what he said up there...

I did some creative googling and couldn't come up with a answer, a lot of the hits were for water related stuff. If there a check valve in it, I would have to say that's it's some type of 1 way valve for whatever? Maybe gas related judging by the color, does it smell of gas? Otherwise I have no clue.

It's a dripper. Insert end with metal rod into bottle, valve and check ball regulate flow to a drip.

The residue inside it looks oily and I can sense no strong familiar smells from it.

Ok, how would a mechanic use it?
We used one very similar, but had a valve to shut off flow to connect to a vacuum line to suck cleaning fluid into the intake. Are you sure that's the correct box?

Drip feed oiler for drilling/milling metal or chain lubrication would be my best guess.

Yep Master meter is molded into the tool itself. Yes the metal rod is hollow and the red fitting on the end of it has an additional hole in the side of it.
is the metal rod hollow?
Yes the metal rod is hollow and the red fitting on the end of it(broken) has an additional hole in the side of it. As you can see the yellow thing on the inside travels up and down.

This is fun.
Do we know for certain it's automotive related? If not, it could be for ANYTHING. :wtf:

I do like the idea that it's for oiling those pesky muffler bearings. Or maybe it's for oiling gritzal pivots, like my father used to say.

We don’t know for sure but it came with a collection of cars and parts and if it isn’t automotive related it would have been the only thing in the whole collection.
