Nice score. Congratulations. You liked the first one so much you had to have two? Is that the original car in the thumbnail over your handle?

I just bought my grail. She is a 68 VIP. I still have the one I have owned since 1986 and now this beauty. This one is brakes away from being show ready.

Love the steering wheel, pre January 1, 1968 production. Needs these hub caps, seldom seen even when new.

Yes they are dead sexy! Problem is limited availability in 14 inch tires.
The VIP was a top line trim level to compete against the Chevy Caprice and the Ford Galaxie LTD.
Being a luxury model the 15 inch disc brake wheel covers will also look great on this car.

I have multiple sets of these wheel-covers including, if my memory is correct, an NOS set.

If you ever decide to sell this VIP, as I mentioned on Facebook when you first posted there, I would be interested.

Is the cloth seat material a velour or a cloth?

My three favorite slab sides are the 1965 Chrysler 300L, 1966 Dodge Monaco 500 and the 1968 Fury VIP. Yours is just stunning and has an excellent interior and the engine is the one I would want. Congratulations!

I had a 68 VIP.
The seats had a very fine smooth brocade cloth with vinyl in a pattern exclusive to VIP
Kinda like a high thread count bedsheets but in a car LOL!!

These are the seats our 68 VIP had. The std cloth and vinyl. The cloth was a smooth satiny finish with no pattern in the cloth. The black cloth really collected the dust and lint.

VIP = Very Important Plymouth. A trim package option that ran from '66 to '69 to try to compete with Chevy and Ford's new models, Caprice and LTD. As I recall sales weren't very good, kinda rare to see vs. numerous Caprice and LTD's (Lum Tee Dums) :poke: Wife had a '71...

Dad liked the VIPs. You could get a loaded luxury car for about the price of a base Newport.
He had 68 and 69 VIPs for company cars both totally loaded 383 2bbl cars.

I was 16 in 1968, got my drivers licence in March. That summer I made lawns and walkways for the manager of Bayside Chrysler Dodge in Barhurst. The deal was $1.00 an hour plus a car (with gas) to drive. For a few days I drove a '68 VIP! It had almost every option except air conditioning which was not popular in New Brunswick at that time. The sticker was still in the rear window! That car still holds a special place in my soul! That was really a big boost for my ego! You have a very beautiful car- I'm glad for you, but I must admit, I'm just slightly jealous! Lindsay
