What is the best way to remove the plastic packaging residue on an NOS Brite Drip molding

Looking for a way to remove residue on an NOS Briter Drip molding that is left behind from the clear plastic portion of the factory paper and clear plastic wrapping used on moldings. I don't want to damage the finish.

Some cleaner wax or other mild abrasive polish. Emphasis on MILD, if the polish.

The oils in the car wax can soften the residues and might even liquify them, just like it will do for "road tar" and similar.

I had the same issue but cannot recall exactly what I used. I suspect it was one these three solvents. It worked well whichever one it was.
