What Valve is this?

Can someone tell me what this is, explain how it works, what it does and how do I know whether it is working or not. If you have a link to a document description that would also be useful.

One hose comes from manifold vacuum
One hose goes to the dizzy's vacuum advance
One hose goes to the base of the carb

It is the Distributor Vacuum Control Valve, it is a California thing on 66-68ish cars.

It delays the advance, my 67 Barracuda has one but it is bypassed.
One port goes the the intake manifold vacuum port and the other two are inline on the advance.

In later years it is called a nox valve. It delayed vacuum advance and therefore reduced nox gas. Do yourself a favor and car a favor and heave it.
