Whats It Worth

Honestly, im busy with the upgrade right now. If you bring this back to me in a week or two I'll look at it more in depth and maybe we could get something done.
Of course, no rush at all. We all certainly want the site up and running smoothly.

Thank you for taking the issue under consideration.

But I thought it's worth asking/discussing. Is there a way to have a WIW where the poster HAS to acknowledge he's read the rules, kinda like the Accept/Decline thing we see all the time on the interweb? No, that wouldn't work because it's probably the responders who start the fracas that Joey doesn't want to deal with.

I'm not too worried about that, I can easily do as you suggest, in fact we do this in the for sale forums now - its the people that don't bother to put the WIW threads in the correct forum. Just yesterday I had to move and edit a NOT MINE thread because someone put it in the for sale forums.

Don't count on it Trace. We don't get things the other sites get.

That isn't really fair. In fact, that is part of my concern because we dont have a WIW forum on the other sites, and the minute I do it here I'll have to do it there too.

None of the for only sites have a WIW. I think locumob is only speaking of the sites that Joey doesn't own.
Agree though, if you put it here, sure as hell those A body guys are gonna want it there. Then the B body guys will really pitch a fit. The E body guys are so refined that they just take whatever they can get. You will have to do it across the board, and then explain to everyone on each board why you took it away.

How about we just leave out the wiw and put in a politics section here on this site since some of the other sites have it. Probably not, :poke:

I misunderstood, thought I read the E body site had one.
Don't think I haven't thought about it..
Last go around of asking for a political thread, we got shot down as soon as we asked. Doesn't matter anymore, the damage had been done.

What if the WIW forum rules were "Wide Open, Wild West, no Moderation, enter at your own risk, wear your big boy pants, be prepared to melt if you're a snowflake, don't bring a knife to a gunfight, and most importantly--don't report bad behavior to me (Joey) and expect me to do ANYTHING about it."?

Would that work, if everyone knows in advance that WIW is a dangerous, unregulated jungle?

no

He said no.

And he can't list anything about snowflakes. Those are the people who got the politics taken out of this site to begin with. The snowflakes.
And, you can't mention guns either. Guns have a mind of their own and commit crimes against humans.
No "big boy" phrase either. We can't be leaving out the other 58 types of humans. Don't want to trigger anyone. Oh whoops, trigger. Don't want to upset anyone.
And surely, don't say jungle. That just says racism all over it. I might get upset. Jungle is a racist word unless our president uses it. hahaha

hahahaha. What a bunch of sissies.

Basically if we want a wiw, we make a for sale ad and list it for 10,000.00. When folks come back and say, why is it so much you say, well what do you want to pay for it?

Looking for the 1 in 100 that might make a comment about your price. Doesn't seem very informative. Nor does it seem like you will get a good discussion about what the value is on the product. Very hit or miss.

Here is how many WIW threads go..

User 1: What is my part worth?

User 2: I'll give you $50 for it

User 1: Great! Sold!

then, a week later...

User 3: I would have given you $100! I didn't see this in the for sale forums!

Then the follow up PM I get:

User 1: How come I can't leave feedback for User 2?

Me: Because you didn't have a for sale ad to give feedback on.

User 1: Your feedback system sucks!

:BangHead:

Totally get it. Totally understand.

I don't think those perceptions were ever really mentioned or felt until the whole censorship thing arose.
I've been around, reading your sites for many many years and that sentiment was never really that strong until the whole, censorship.
When you put yourself into a boat of socialists who don't let you speak what you want to speak it breeds American patriot hate against you. Plain and simple.
You have the right to do it here as you own this.
I have the right to leave.

You definitely deal with a very difficult dynamic being involved with these sites.
*** hole or not, hats off to you sir.

IMHO, WIW threads don't go well. I did one a number of years ago on another forum and had a guy make what I thought was a really good offer, so I took it.

The sale was screwy, but that had more to do with the people involved than the WIW thread. I had to meet one of his buddies at a Thruway exit to collect the cash and give up the part. A truck full of guys too. Honestly, the way the part was being scrutinized, I came close to putting it back in the trunk. There's a little more to the story, but I digress....

In the long run, I found that I sold the part for hundreds of dollars less than I could of. I still got some serious cash, but I could have made more and not done a sketchy side of the road deal.

So, the WIW thread backfired on me. The guy bragged about the deal too....

There are a lot of ways to figure out the what the value is. Then you have to weigh how long you want to wait to get top dollar if that is what you are looking for. Still don't know what it's worth? Throw a big asking price with the statement "I'm not sure what this is worth, so make me a realistic offer" . That satisfies Joey's rules and gets your WIW done too.

Look if you want. If you dare venture elsewhere. This is how most of the wiw ads go over on ebodies.org.
There are a few situations as described, pm sent, I'll buy it, your an *** things that take place, but for the most part it is Very civil over there.
