That Imp looks good even in pink! What do you think the hammer price will be???

Perfect for down here!!

This pink Chrysler is believed to be the one given to Baseball legend Willie Mays by Chrysler, upon his retirement in 1975!
Believed..........
Salesmen aways leave themselves an exit strategy.

I would like to see the fender tag(s) on that car. Again, I would need indisputable proof that Mays owned it. A picture of him driving it or something.

I really like that car but by purposely alleging provenance where it's almost impossible to prove a negative, some sweaty too-fat-for-his-Hawaian shirt and gawd awfull comb over will pay too much at the urging of his trophy wife holding her dyed pink poodle.

That's too bad, too. Willie Mays' Imperial was a '74...

As usual, the factory received a few requests for cars painted in “Special-Order” paint color; usually bright “Rallye Red” - as this was the only color in Chryslers 1974 rainbow of colors that was not offered on Imperial. Two such ears are known to exist Mr. Robert Harms of Coal City, IL. owns one that is a 4-Door Hardtop, while Mr. Al White of Denver, Colorado owns a Sun Roofed 2-Door Hardtop. Either white, black, or beige were the interior and roof choices with the Rallye Red paint. Word has it that another unusual colored Imperial was made for Mr. Willie Mays, the famous baseball player, and given to him upon retirement as a gift. It was said Mays’ home was painted a soft pastel pink and his driveway was tinted a soft pink to match, so naturally the Imperial given to him was said to be a special light pink with white roof and white leather trim.

Two different Jet Magazines with New York Mets baseball Hall of Fame Willie Mays on cover. (1) June 22, 1972 Jet Magazine "A New Willie With A New Team" is in nice condition with a crease in upper right corner, & has a mailing label at bottom. Has a nice 5 page story/photos regarding Willie in this 62 page magazine. (2) October 11, 1973 Jet Magzine "Mays Talks About His Future Career As He Quits Mets." Has a nice photo/story spread as Mets celebrate "Willie Mays Day" in his baseball retirement. Great photos of Mays, Mets Owner Joan Payson, Joe Dimaggio & two new cars given to Mays - a 1974 Chrysler Imperial & a 74 Sebring. This magazine is in excellent condition, with only slight wear, upper right corner, etc. Has no mailing label and no tears, writing in this 98 page publication. There are several other nice articles/advertisements in both magazines, Will be glad to provide additional information on either magazine, upon email request. From a smoke free home & out our our personal sports collection. Postage $4.00.

Lastly, the pink Imperial going to auction is a '75. The '74 grill did not extend down into the bumper.

Sorry, but I wouldn't be caught dead in a pink Imperial......that's the intro for lots of jokes.

Certain types.........the type that go along with piloting a Mary K Imperial.....the dude Willie Mays was some kind of baseball superstar I assume. Why a "pink" Imperial.

I'm perplexed why a seemingly cool dude like Mays would want to tool around in a pink Imperial.

Good detective work Stan! I'll bet he even has fake documentation.
