So today...got to talkin with my good pal Wyatt, who knew I wanted to dive into the NYer so that we both can drive out to Carlisle next year. Knowing the plan was to pull the engine/trans he told me "why not just pull the the stub and do everything".
The kid really know his ****. No ****.
We got going and start the tear into it.
The pics you're about to see are just the beginning. We got way farther today and more pics soon to follow for where we finished up. But for now, we're havein beer & food at a local watering hole in Crystal Lake. More to follow......

Truth be told. Couldn't have done it without him. Doing this kinda stuff is what keep you young and helps to keep this old brain working.

Put some tape over the ends of the disconnected A/C hoses to keep moisture from turning the oil to jello.

Dave

System is dry as a bone.
That is possible, but often the oil has migrated to the bottom of the evaporator and condenser and if that oil jells up, you will need to remove both units to have them flushed. You will need a new filter dryer in any case.

We will keep that in mind. AC isnt on the immediate to do list, but something we can plug up quick to avoid future issues. Thanks for the tip.

Id be happy sitting in my shop, working on this car any day of the week to see the transformation if the ride.

You should have just sold the car to me and I would have taken care of all that stuff - all in a day's work. I just did that to my Town & Country wagon. Blasted the stub frame and put por-15 on it to preserve it. Redid all the engine gaskets, including head gaskets, core plugs etc and rebuilt the auto trans, suspension and brakes with new brake lines too. Only way to freshen up a vehicle you want to keep for the long term.

I applaud you guys for doing it right!

I appreciate it Steve! I told him let's do it once and it'll be done forever!

Stevo, in case you cant tell from what has already been posted, my NYer is gonna live a long life once the stubby goes back in.
This car is going to be one that will be rebuilt to the way it was when it came out of the fac tory.
No need to sell it.
I dont need the money.

Just kidding, nice work fellas! It looks like you had some fun working together and btw this is one of my top favorite fuselage cars on this board.

Good job guys, it's nice to see a substantial amount of work done so quickly...I'm looking forward to updates and lots more pictures in this thread
BTW, that's an impressive looking exhaust!

Great work, I tbought when you mentioned removing the stub, in my head I was thinking the clip, and you were going to leave the stub frame in place, you guys aren't messing around. Looking forward to watching the rebuild.

Not that we didn't do enough yesterday, after we left the bar last night, went back to the shop and pulled the rear bumper.
I don't know what time I got home, but geez, at least we gained an hour last night.
Every one made it home safely as per the text to one another.
