Hey All,

I see a number of threads with various paints folks have used to match the Chrysler red on the 318's but it all seems to be aerosols. Does anyone know of a can/pint of red engine paint that matches well enough? The plan is to do a full resto once I retire but for now the "craigslist rebuild" will do via brush if I don't have to disassemble and tape everything off.

Thanks!

My experience with Hirsch factory blue is a very long cure time, like a week to 2 weeks.
Read directions carefully
Oh absolutely, will do. Got about a week left to wait. :) I have to say it looks pretty darn ok for being a brush-on. I replaced the water pump and a few other things so I had a hodge podge of chipped or unpainted surfaces. Now I can look at it and think, "yup, that's definitely an engine".

After a full two weeks for the engine enamel and 7 days for the VHT black I used on the manifolds, I did the VHT instructions for idling/curing and everything still looked great. Then I went for an hour drive last night and noticed that some of the enamel had burned (?) off near the two open notches in the valve covers close to the carb. Would this be a valve cover gasket failure? Otherwise I'm not sure why these two notches would get hot enough to discolor 700 degree paint.
