Hello Everyone,
well I told Dave I would post as many pics as possible and keep him up to date on the progress of his old White 1970 Polara 440 Rose Bowl Vert as he was kind enough to sell it to me!! I got here shipped in about a week ago and finally got some time today to go up and work on it as I have to store it about an hour and a half away at my Dad's shop as I have a crappy little garage at my house and no space. So the updates will be a little sparatic as it is a PITA to get up there to work on it but I am going to plug away at it.

I had the bodymen come out and look at it and I was overall very very happy with the car. She has had a few little taps in the past but a very SOLID body to start with. I got here tore apart pretty good and will be getting the engine and trans out next time I am up so it can go off to the blaster to get stripped down.

Has anyone ever removed one of these tops with the intention of putting it back in the same car? The bodymen want it off and it is in very very nice shape and I would hate to mess it up so any input would be great!! Thanks

Here are the photobucket pics so I can keep Dave up to speed!!

I can tell you the top was off the car , frame and top off in one piece... photos in an e mail

was it hard to line it back up? I looked at how it mounts and I am not worried about getting it out, just getting it back in where it seals and works correctly

I didnt even try ..... took it out, put it back on when needed. BUT IT is not going up and down under its own power so that may be something to consider. You want both sides pulling/pushing evenly

Removing the top off of my 69 Sport Fury was not really that hard as it pretty much unbolts with just a few bolts on each side of top. Of course make sure you disconnect the hydraulic lines from the pump and the tension cables for the top as well. Make sure you have some help taking it off.

I hate white but that car always looked good, even in the condition shes in. ..... Good Job Michael

You are doing the job right. Take the car down to the shell and restore everything going back in the other direction. That car deserves such a nice effort. Keep up the good work, even with the difficult storage/shop situation. You will be glad you did it this way in the end, I believe.

No that is the 70 EV2 orange 440 vert not this one. I have all the parts to fix that one now as I picked up a solid 69 polara 500 parts car

Is this the one with the bad stub frame?

Wait a hold it.... Yes, this car has a bent stub forward of the front wheels. The hit was on the right side of the car. A simple fix for a body guy with the equipment to straighten it out. I was going to swap it since the plan was to pull it anyway and paint it up.
The fellow who touched up my Challenger was willing to straighten the frame for $400.00, which I thought was a good price.

Yeah I thought he meant the rotted stub on my orange one. This one has that damage right in the front passenger front of the stub. It looks like an easy fix. I did not even notice if the frame was pushed over. I would guess it looks like an older push on the frame as I think the car was on the road with the stub like it is and the new passenger fender. I did notice the passenger wheel was way off for toe in and out.

Yep , the right fender does not have a cornering light. The right side is worse than the left but yes, the left is pulled too. Yeah, I am certain the car was on the road after the hit, just dont know when any of that was. It sat in my garage for 13 years and another couple in Virginia coming from Arizona.
Remember, there is all new front end parts on that car, including the hard to find parts ..... 12 years old with zero miles, and no front end alignment which explains the bad toe

goog luck with the project.
it is worth getting it back to the road soon
