Well, I made the electricity on this one and a couple others also, but that was a long time ago.

Awesome, Polara_500....... If I'm not mistaken, that's the USS Long Beach nuclear powered cruiser. Back in the day it had one of my Launcher's on board for what was called at that time, a TALOS surface-to-air missile, or SAM. The TALOS is the decommissioned airframe that my company used to upgrade/convert to the newer VANDAL missile for US Naval training exercises in the '70's through 2005 when we finally exhausted the existing supply of airframes. My post earlier in this thread is in fact a launch of one of those VANDAL's that I was heavily involved with at one of our launch sites, Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) in Kauai, Hawaii a few years back. It is entirely possible that the Launcher you see in my photo is the very same launcher from the USS Long Beach in your photo. We have re-used the original shipboard TALOS Launcher's that were removed from the cruiser's when they were decommissioned at all of our land-based launch sites here in the states and even one that is now located in France. So many of the original Launcher's still exist and are operational yet today. Thanks for your post and for your Service, much appreciated!

Yep, she had TALOS. Thankfully I never saw any other than target practice though. I was, however, on deck one day when we fired a bird - same deck but about 75 ft forward, I can tell you that's nowhere near far enough away when they go "whoosh". My flinch reaction did get me an awesome photo of the launch though. I should dig through photos sometime and see if I can find that one.

Oh I agree with you, 75 ft is WAY too close for comfort when one of these get lit off. Good thing you had some steel between you and the TALOS or you probably wouldn't be here today. BTW, how's your hearing?

Would love to see that photo too, if you find it.

I remember watching those T38's and the T37's fly around overhead for years down a Sheppard Air Force Patch :)

We had F-5's (grey) as well at "Willie air patch", more than a few chapters ago. Got the opportunity to fly a tweet once. The pilot thought I was green and said I could take the controls if I didn't get sick, and he tried. I told him just before he turned over controls that I fly gliders. He let me play for quite awhile, retook control and really flew that bird, what a hoot!

Sooner see you on the road.....this winter l have 35,000 Syrians...er new Canadians driving on Canadas icey roads for the first time....wonder how many they will kill inadvertently.....
Are Trudeau and Merkel in bed together? WTF...

"Merkel insists on keeping Germany’s door open to refugees"

Here's the BBQ grill work station I'm fabricating. It'll have a 2" thick concrete top so it won't blow off the patio.

Sorry but cannot take picture of the 911 Dispatch Center (full time job) or any pictures of City Councilman (part time job I) but I do have picture on part time job II, taking care of my 91 yoa Mom's needs at the assisted living. This picture is three years ago when she could walk. She is now in a wheelchair full time.
