My tires are very old and no longer balance. Was thinking about upgrading to a set of Wheel Vintiques 15x8's with dog dishes. I'd like to fit a wider tire not only for looks, but for increased contact patch, and marginally improved braking performance (harder to lock up).

Few questions:

-Any issue fitting 15x8's all the way around?
-4" or 4.5" backspacing?
-What's a good tire (size and brand) for these old C-Bodies?

I know this is terribly subjective, but I'd just like to know what some owners are running.

Thanks

-MK

Can't help but am interested in doing the 15'' upgrade for wider tires so will be watching for pics

What sized tires do you want and what kind of look? Are you going to lower it? High rear end? Stock stance?

this 66 300 had 15x8's 275/60-15 on it , 67 300 15x8.5 americans 225/70-15 on the noise 245/60-15 on the rear .

For what it's worth my 69 Fury III has 15/8 with 4 1/2 inch backspacing on the rear with BFG 275/60/15's . Front are 235/70/15 on 15/7 wheels. All wheel vintiques.

I went the steelie (mbody service rims) with 235 70 15 and dog dish route with my old 68 Monaco. At the time, due to the low trim factor (wasn't a 500) I thought it was really nice and understated. Looking back at it, the Mags would have been a better bet and should I decide to go any other way than stock 14" with my 67 Monaco, I'll likely go that way.
Slabs are funny that way, esp verts. They are very intricate even in light trim and deserve a wheel design that stands up to all those lines.
I put my vote in on mags for your ride, I think that thing would really sit proudly on those.
