Are books obsolete?

It's crazy how modern media effects how we think. Most everything is in short segments.
There are whole platforms that specialize in content that is under a minute. I will rarely watch something more than 30 minutes. Sunday night I watch coldwar motors. I really like long format discussion and will only watch those when I get reeled in by telling myself I will only watch a little.

Even though I do a lot of audio books on my commute, when I sat down to read a paper book last year I was amazed at how much my mind wandered.

In the 90's I read book after book and would loose track of time reading.

I think people are very fractured in their thought process due to this conditioning.

Modern management training tells you to be tolerant of people's social media time at work. If they don't satisfy their needs, there work will suffer.

Most of the books that I have bought in the last several years I justify my telling myself when I retire I'll slow down and read books again.
