Ladder bars and coil overs. I have a 28x10.5 tire on it now just to drive it for the rest of the season. I'll probably switch to a big drag radial for next years. Plenty of room in the wheel wells once you get rid of the leaf springs. 16 inches to be exact. Real simple job too. This took me and one other guy 3 days to do and that was all done in between working normal jobs.

And as far as streetability goes, it actually rides better than it did with leaf springs. I must have got the spring rate correct on the first try. :)

Nice job, and the stance looks amazing. Mean looking ride!

Thanks for the compliments! I'll take some more pictures evetntually. Right now I'm too busy driving it. This winter the 413 is coming out and a "warmed over" 440 is going in. I'm going to put a different set of wheels and tires on it too. Just not sure what yet.

as the other crowd will say (and i'll be the other crowd) "lower it and lower it some more"

It would be nice if I could find a 19 spline converter like what TCI used to make so I could keep my unmolested odd duck transmission.

Nice job, the car looks great!

More pictures.

Another shock of the Coil-over crossmember. I cut a hole in each side of the frame rails with a hole saw and then slid the bar in place and welded it. Doing it this way adds a little strength. The attachment brackets for the gas tank straps interfered with the crossmember. I carefully modified the factory gas tank strap attachment points to retain the factory fuel tank.

Although it doesn't look like it in the picture, there is 2 inches of clearance between the tire and inner wheel well.

There is an inch of clearance between the skirt and tire. I'll gain a little clearance when I change wheels but might have to roll the lip a bit. These wheels are just test wheels. They are 10 1/2 inches wide and I'm going with a 15x10 and a 325/50 drag radial.

This is a fairly simple job for anyone that can weld, do math and turn a wrench. In a weekend you can gain about 6-8 inches of wheel well room in a C-body.

Certainly doesn't look like your "old man's" car. Congratulations on having some balls to do it. It looks great!

That's cool, how does it run? Could be a real sleeper

Runs good but needs more power. It only has 93,000 miles but it's 50 years old and tired. It has a cam and intake but it's no rocket. I'm going to go thru it this winter and change the cam and put some good heads on it. Maybe do up a 440 and save the 413.

Very nice work. Looks great I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous
Thanks! I love this car. I found it by accident and then found out that it is pretty rare after I bought it. I put it up for sale and had a bunch of low ballers offering $1200 to $2500 for it so I decided to keep it and get to work on it. I have a pretty extensive background in drag racing, particularly Mustangs. It's nice to jump into a project that you don't see in every other driveway. Like every other car I've owned, this will stay a 100% street car but it will have alot of attitude.
