Not a "C" body but...'78 Olds Toronado SX For Sale NV Craigs

1987-Aerocoupe-10.jpg

I prefer the Monte Carlo, but actually the regular back over the aerocoupe. One of very few mid to late 80s cars I like as far as US cars are concerned.

The high brake lights by the back window led to the third brave lights today. These cars were being rear ended significantly less than all other cars at the time any it was found in tests and studies that eye level lights caught peoples attention. It would still be years before they became mandatory.

The study that proved the value of CHMSLs was done on Washington DC cabs...

Third Brake Light Is No Third Wheel

But I'm sure GM was aware of it.

These for mounting on the package tray sold like hotcakes in the late 70s-80s in Europe.

A friend has an 87 Aero with Ts in his garage. Bought it 20 plus years ago and there it sits

They seem to catch at least as much as 60s C-Body Chrysler Hardtops, still in the affordable range. Guess they salted away too many as instant collectibles.

He drove his hard and put it away trashed . Collected a ton of NOS parts for it over the years . Given his history I presume it'll never get done. He still has his 57 Chevy sitting at his mothers house from when he was 17, thats 35 years . It now has stray cats living in it

I guess they*re glued in, an old panoramic windshield with a regular rubber grommet should be harder.

I once had a 77 toronado - a very good driver!

It's amazing what you could buy for $800 back in 2008...

So how nose heavy were these cars in the respect to front / rear ratio?

car weighs 4700 lbs. FWIW "Internet" says "55/45" (F/B) so probably not .

rides like a Caddie of the era ..cruisies straight and quiet. floats like a cloud, wallows in corners.

only significant torque steer is on hard acceleration from standing start. power steering effortless.

others with more info please chime in.

I looked at a '68 Eldorado that was once owned by actor George Kennedy about 5 years ago. It was a nice clean car that needed a paint job. I much prefered a '66 Olds Toronado preferably in a dark color. The dark color will show off the body lines. I instead purchased this car in the color of Doubonet.

I had an uncle that had one much like the one that started the thread . That was then ..... at some point in the early 80s he passed and I never saw the car again
