Don't know much about his personal life, (which is a welcome change from 2018 celebs) but I enjoyed a lot of his movies. I think "White Lightning" doesn't get the credit it deserves for being kind of a dark, noir movie. He was good in that role for sure.

Never seemed to take himself or Hollywood too seriously. Looking back he probably had more fun than anyone in movies. Plus he got to thrash a TransAm halfway across the country with Sally Fields! Twice!

Always one of my favorite actors, he played most of his roles after Deliverence pretty light.
I seem to remember reading that he was passed over for an academy award nomination due to his Cosmopolitan spread.
An interesting side note, Alfred Hitchcock once said that Smokey and the Bandit was one of his favorite movies. R.I.P Mr.Reynolds
