I would guess this has been discussed here before, but I'm too tired to look back....
Keep it or abolish it?

Lose it and stay on standard time. In mid-December to mid January it's still dark until almost 9. If they went DST, it would be dark until almost 10. Besides that, who needs daylight until 11 at night mid summer?

I just said yesterday keep DST and get rid of standard time. December 21 it'll be dark at 415 ...boooo
I really should give you an X back. It's much harder to get motivated in the morning if it's still dark. The natural light is what gets your body moving. Think about those job sites where the building has been closed in and only temporary lighting has been installed. I used to despise going to work in those office towers.

most of indiana used to be not on dst then we got it in 2006 i hate it

This is something state level politicians raise every election season to give the appearance of work (although I know they do it in other states as well, so I guess it's national).

Personally I like to beat the sun up. Winter is cold and crappy anyway, so it's not like an extra hour of daylight during a blizzard or on a cold windy day makes a difference. Conversely, I like when it's light until 9pm at the peak of summer. I guess that puts me on the "keep" side.

It's also one of those quaint traditions that separate us from the rest of the world and it might help us win an apocalyptic war against robots.

Keep it.

And now guys can't stay late because it's dark early. Which blows

We do . The current twp doesn't allow work to start before 7. Which will now kill us on outside work.
Many guys would rather stay late than start early.

In my city, you could get a variance if you could find a justification (shorter project, lowered cost, etc.)

As we speak, there are six houses under construction on my street alone.
All the foundations, block wall, stucco, trusses, sheathing, roofing, etc is done with Mexicans. All of it. They work morning to sunrise and often six days a week.
EST, DST.... means nothing to them.

Fumbuck County: where you can build a castle for 250k.
