1500-2500 would be more realistic with its rust...that 73 Polara Cop car on Ebay was mine for a bit. Got 6 grand for it as is minus the stickers and lights. The C body market is rising and people keep shitting on decent cars. I hate it. This attitude is why I am not on here as much as I once was.

I respect your input and do not mind at all if you disagree with me. I have seen a lot of cars that have sat outside for 20+ years and unfortunately there is usually not much left of the bottom side of them. That brings me to this car, it is a legitimate cruiser with the battery heat shield, speedo and HD radiator still present. Given the oil slopped on the top side of the engine, it is probably stuck tight. Usually when they sit for a long time outside, the rear end gears will be rusted on the top side of the pinion and all that rust will come off as the car is moved and the rear end will be junk quickly if it is not already. Bottoms of the doors will usually be rusted out also. Rear window channel is rotted so most likely is the trunk floor. I do not think all of that can be fixed for less than probably $20k-$30k, could be more. That is why I think this is a parts car. To be fair, if it was gotten up on a rack and the underside is still solid, it is probably worth the $1.5-$2.5k you mentioned. Here on the West Coast rusty cars are worth about half what they are worth in more rust prone areas. Most cars out west are not exposed to the salt corrosion common in Canada and the Rust Belt, so folks hear are really turned off by lots of rust.

As far as cars being crapped on, there have been a lot of flipper cars on the forum as of late and many of them are grossly overpriced which leads to the negative comments. There have also been a lot of nice cars on the forum and I have not seen much crap directed at quality cars that are fairly priced. The '73 cruiser you sold for $6k was a quality vehicle, so is the '69 Polara 500 vert on today's forum. Thanks and good night.

Contrary to popular belief, this car is quite rare, and is a "Road Runner" of sorts in the C-body world.

Most here are sh!tting on this car and they don't even know what it is.

It seems from comments consistently made on this forum about "values of C-bodies", you guys seem to know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

A car doesn't have to be a GT, a 500, have a "letter", have 2 doors, be rust free, and or B5/B7 blue to be worth saving.

Remember, it's not 1998; $1,000 doesn't get you a whole lot in 2019, unless you are really lucky.

So it's kind of a "muscle luxury" Police Package Fury. To my knowledge, the general public was not entitled to order the A38 package. So this was a fleet or Government (of some kind) special ordered car. That alone makes it cool.

My guess is the FBI, or the Governor of Texas Motor Pool.

It's a rare car, and worth saving. Sure,... most of you may not like the asking price, or you are not be able to do the work on the car, but the car has value, more than most of you think. IF that turns out to be $4.5K remains to be seen. I think there is room for negations and a place for making an offer on a car that is likely not to surface again.

I have no way to actually know, but I've been following MoPar police cars for over 30 years now and have only seen one of these. My guess is there were less than, maybe 25 produced, and I think that is a very liberal guess, based on police cars I have seen/come across/heard of. It is likely just one of a few produced.

(One thing interesting to numbers nerds like me is it's built during what I call "fleet week" which is May. Seems a majority of "fleet" cars were built in May.)

Just my point .02 cents.

“It is what it is” is an expression that gets used a lot. In this case, one is left to wonder, what is it? My point being, when you start out asking $4500 for a car like this you need to take a hour or two and clean it up! You don’t have to detail it out, but, at least get it clean enough that a prospective buyer can see the condition. This one needs a leaf blower or rake taken to it! Pictures are free,so take a bunch of them revealing the good and the bad.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this car was in better shape than it looks but, I also wouldn’t be surprised if it was much worse. Condition means more to me than a maxed out fender tag. The stuff on that tag don’t mean doodley-squat if the things it refers to are ruined.

I guess....if you’re a check writer. This is a forum of “doers” not check writers. I picked up a parts car for my parts car, made 3x my money back and kept a pile of good replacement metal, enough to fix two cars. I’ll spend the summer welding panels in, but it is a hobby after all.

I can see this Fury brought back to life. My guess is $3000 cash would take it home and be worth every penny. Pick up a decent ‘73 that’s had its heart stolen and you are in business.

V02 = two tone paint?

As this was a cruiser of some sort, the VO2 code was probably for doors of a different color than the body. Some agencies paid the extra cost to order their cars in traditional black and whites or other colors and some had the front or both sets of doors painted to the desired color at their motor pool. Depending on the policy of the various agencies, when the vehicles were put up for sale, some painted the doors to match the rest of the body to improve resale pricing others left them as is.

I agree, and at that price, one would expect it to at least be complete as a starting point for price negotiations. Air Cleaner, alternator, carb are obviously missing. HD wheels and tires are long gone.
